We have a good experience in diploid and tetraploids of
different types such as SUGARBABY TYPE,CHARLESTON GREY & CRIMMSON types.
Hybrid Watermelon
Sowing Time - May and September

Staggering - Male is sown 4 to 6 days earlier than female to have sufficient male flowers.

Spacing - Row to Row 1.5 to 1.6 mts.
              Plant to Plant 0.60 to 0.75 mts.
Sowings - All swings are done after pregerminating the seed.

Vine training
- The main shoot is pinched on 5th node.
- Three secondery shoots are allowed to develop.
- On each secondry one healthy female bud is pollinated.
- First bud is removed for allowing good vegetative
  growth before pollination.
- The secondery vine is also pinched five to six leaves
   after the set seed fruit.

Roguing
- Male parent is thoroughly rogued before the  begining
  the hybridization process.
- Roguing of female parent is also carried on the basis
  of phenotype characters before begining the hybridization

Hybridization
- The selected healthy female bud is bagged in the
   afternoon of the day before  opening. 
- Matured male bud are picked up in the evening of the day
  female buds are bagged.
- Bagged female buds open next day morning which are 
  pollinated between 7am and 9am using 1:1 male:female        ratio.
- Immediately after pollination the female bud is bagged
  again with different coloured bag and a thread ring is put
  on the peduncle as mark to identify the seed fruit.

Seed extraction
- Matured fruits are harvested and stored for two days.
- Seed fruits are cut open to two halves and seed
   extracted ,washed and dried properly.
- Then the seed is conditioned,tested and shipped.
